VPNs and regional pricing: what a VPN can and cannot do

1 ott 2026 · 13 ott 2026

A VPN changes your apparent location and protects your connection. It does not make you eligible for another country's price.

What a VPN does

A VPN encrypts your traffic and routes it through a server in another location. It is useful on public Wi-Fi, for privacy, and to see how a website presents itself from another country — for example to check which plans and prices are displayed there.

What a VPN does not do

  • It does not change the country of your account or payment method.
  • It does not make you eligible for offers reserved to residents.
  • It does not guarantee that a purchase will go through or keep working.

Most stores and services check the billing country of your payment method, and many prohibit purchases from outside the region in their terms. Using false personal information or addresses to get around these rules can break the terms of service and may lead to account suspension.

Our approach

Subscription Price Monitor shows prices for information. Where we mention a VPN partner, the link is clearly marked as an affiliate link, and we never claim it guarantees a cheaper price. Always check the provider's terms before buying.
